Wait! Come back! I'll do better I promise!!

OK, so the blog fell to the bottom of the pile. The mother-wife who works full time and got sick pile. The how-dare-my-day-job-take-up-so-much-of-my-time pile. The real-life pile.

So, I'm back, and with that comes reflection. It's time to address the 2008 Resolutions I made here. Ummm, it's not going so good. I said that I was going to see one movie a month in the theater that was not animated. Well, I have seen three movies in the theater this year, and only one of them wasn't animated. Last Saturday the girls and I saw Horton Hears a Who! and it was definitely enjoyable. Jayden, who like her sister has inherited some of my strange movie sense, announced about 10 minutes into the film that the Mayor was like the Grinch. I felt that was pretty insightful for a four-year-old. I would have been more impressed if she had said that Horton sounded like the Grinch, but I will take what I can get. The movie went by real fast, which to me is a sure sign of a good film and my favorite character by a long shot was Kangaroo, voiced by the legendary Carol Burnett.

I truly enjoyed taking the girls to see this film, but I am still longing for more trips to the theater where I can see my favorite actors on the big screen instead of just hearing their voices. Baby steps, is all I can say, baby steps. At least I am getting to the theater at all.

As far as books go I am still on my fourth book of the year American Girls About Townby Jennifer Weiner and friends. I'll admit I haven't gotten far. I started off the year with 3 books fast but then decided magazines were more of what I was in the mood to read. But I can't recommend my last book, Eat, Pray, Love, enough. This book truly made me want to binge on Italian cuisine, dive headfirst into meditation, and since I have the love part covered I decided that we simply need to visit Bali someday. It was a very moving book, and I was inspired after every chapter.

But in order to accomplish these simple things I resolved to do two short months ago, I need to do one thing. One impossible thing. Find time for me. And that, in and of itself, it darn near impossible.
