Ok, so I have a pretty good idea that the title of this post is not... ummm...correct. Grammatically, that is. But I have a simple rule of thumb for myself, my grammar can suck as long as what I'm working on is aesthetically pleasing.
I believe that 2008 is the year of no New Year Resolutions. I have read countless blogs, message board posts, magazine articles, etc. where people have said, "I don't make New Years Resolutions because I never keep them." I agree with that. If I had kept my New Years Resolutions I would be a heck of a lot skinnier, a lot more rested, free of my caffeine addiction, and the sides of my thumbs would not be scarred from my disturbing habit of picking at them. But this year I had two things in my mind that felt like joyful resolutions instead of teaching this old dog new tricks.
1) I want to start a blog. Check. An addendum to this resolution might be to actually let other people know I have started a blog so that someone is reading it, but I'm not quite there yet.
2) I want to read at least one book a month in 2008. With this one I am off to a good start. I just finished Jennifer Weiner's The Guy Not Taken. I have read all of Jennifer Weiner's books and enjoyed each and every one. This one in particular is a collection of her short stories, all very easy to read. One story is a written from the point of view of Bruce, the ex-boyfriend in Weiner's book Good In Bed. It was actually written before Good In Bed and I think it was a pleasant surprise, but hey I'm no book critic.
Next on my list, of books that is, is Diablo Cody's Candy Girl: A Year in the Life of an Unlikely Stripper. I remember seeing Diablo Cody on David Letterman years ago and I honestly found her fascinating. I had written the name of her book down for future reference, but I never got around to buying it. It recently came to my attention that Diablo Cody wrote Juno, the critically acclaimed movie starring Ellen Page and Jennifer Garner. So I had to move it to the top of the books I have been meaning to read and started it on Monday. So far, so good.
Speaking of Juno, at this moment I am adding a 3rd resolution to my list....
3) I want to see one movie a month in the theater! In my younger days I was a movie freak. But now with 2 young daughters, a full-time job, an hour commute, and a husband, very little of my time is my own. 99% of the movies I have seen in the theater in the last few years are animated. I love the big screen experience and feel it's time to make time for some mommy-movie-time. Now I just have to decide what to see. I'll keep you posted.

Love your blog site, but I'm prejudiced!
Love, MOM
:-)
I want to see Juno! But can't justify the trip to the theater for it. Oh well...at least I have Netflix.
Blogging is fun! I like resolutions, but I tend to keep some of them and not worry about the ones I don't keep.
