The Joy of Shuffle #2

My intention was to do another Joy of Shuffle post about mid-month, as I did in February, but time she got away from me. I enjoy sharing what comprises the 4118 songs I have on my iPod and then waiting for the smart ass comments to roll in, so what better way to start off the week then to open myself up to the world. Or rather the 10 of you, so let's hear it.

1. Never Going Back Again ~ Fleetwood Mac

Fleetwood Mac reminds me so much of my parents. Well, actually it reminds me of all the adults that were around me as I grew up in the 70's. I've always loved the Rumours album especially Second Hand News and Gold Dust Woman, but this acoustic song rates pretty high too.

2. Along Comes a Woman ~ Chicago

Chicago with Peter Cetera to me is real Chicago. I enjoyed their later work, but I don't feel it's as iconic as when Peter led the group. Chicago's greatest hits album has always been a favorite of mine there's not a bad song on there.

3. Raspberry Beret ~ Prince

The instant you hear the first beat it's got you. You have to turn it up and you have to sing. Loud. Oooo I saw her, she walked in through the out door, out door.

4. Brand New Day ~ Sting

My friend Kristin bought me this album for Christmas many years ago. I hadn't heard any of the songs yet and I put it in for my hour commute home from work. I listened to every song and I remember hearing this one and thinking that the harmonica sounded a lot like Stevie Wonder and sure enough, it's him. I was very proud of my ears at that moment.

5. Can't Keep it in ~ Cat Stevens

Ahhh, more music that reminds me vividly of growing up in the 70's. Cat Stevens was huge in my Dad's house. Peace Train, Wild World, Moonshadow. This song is catchy. It makes me happy.

6. Shut Your Eyes ~ Snow Patrol

I enjoy Snow Patrol. Make this go on Forever is my favorite off of this CD, probably because I love Grey's Anatomy and it was the song that played when Meredith drowned. Chasing Cars also proved to be a very licensable song for them, for awhile you heard it everywhere. This is a song that I know has played quite a bit for me, but it's not really a favorite.

7. Get Off of my Cloud ~ Rolling Stones

Not my favorite Stones song, but it'll do. My iPod must be feeling 70's, or is this one more 60's?

8. Mamma Mia ~ ABBA

Nope the iPod is definitely feeling the 70's. I admit it though, I love ABBA, or rather I love ABBA's greatest hits.

9. Feels Like Home ~ Chantal Kreviazuk

I LOVE this song. I first became familiar with it after seeing it on Dawson's Creek, a show that I was embarrassingly fond of watching. But the lyrics are so beautiful. Good wedding song.

There's something in your eyes
Makes me wanna lose myself
Makes me wanna lose myself in your heart
There's something in your voice
That makes my heart beat fast
Hope this feeling lasts
For the rest of my life

10. At This Moment ~ Billy Vera & The Beaters

Oh sweet memories. I don't care how lame you think I am, I LOVE this song too. It reminds me of a boy I crushed on in 9th grade. He was an Iggy Pop fan and probably had no idea who Billy Vera even was. He also probably thought Family Ties was uber-lame which is where I first heard this song. It was Alex and Ellen's song. Odd to associate this song with someone who would have not enjoyed the song, but that's what 9th grade obsession will do to you.
