20 years, 6 months, 19 days

That's how long I was employed. Consecutively employed. Sometimes doubly employed. On Friday, November 14th I became unemployed for the first time since 4 days after my 16th birthday. Holy Hell that's a long time.

Last week I entered the final phase of my process. Or rather, what I hope is the last phase. The denial phase. I was a deer widow last week and in years past I often take vacation time while my husband is away to spare myself the stress of an hour commute and caring for our children. So last week kind of felt like I was on vacation. This week is a little different, although I don't think my brain has quite gone "there" yet. Maybe it will after Thanksgiving. I would have only worked 2 days this week anyway. Actually it will probably go there on Wednesday when I would have received a really nice paycheck :)

I think the fact that December 1st is a Monday will make it a symbolic day for me. Yes, it's the end of the year, but it's still the beginning of a new month, and I will have had 2 weeks of leisure time under my belt. (Please. Who am I kidding? I haven't taken one nap!) So that is the day it gets serious. Must. Make. Money. Somehow. If you have any ideas let me know. I'm going to list my prized possessions on Craig's List now.

Congratulations on your "retirement"!!! You are SO brave and SO smart! I know after selling off your prized stuff you will "find work". Meanwhile, enjoy that time you haven't had in over 20 years! Oh, and just so you know, I did NOT get to go see "Twilight" because the boys came home early. Humpf! Bob thought it was really nice they came home because Cory wanted to be home with "his sweet Baboo". Bob's words. Cute, eh?

Bob's words are cute but that's not why they came home! Cory had to work! It had nothing to do with me, he was out of days off! :)
