Happy May Day!

For some reason on May 1st I always remember (quite vividly) drawing May Day posters in elementary school. The teachers would hang them over the lockers and coat hooks in the hallway. Isn't that funny?

I'm pretty excited lately. Last week we purchased a used travel trailer. We camp a few times each summer but always use a tent except for our week at Drummond Island. At Drummond we use our friends trailer that is stationary on their property. We knew we wanted a camper of our own, but the stars never lined up, until now. It's tiny, only 18 feet long and it sleeps 4. Barely. Cory and I have yet to lay together on the couch that pulls out but I'm guessing rolling over will be a challenge. But that's ok, we will still have our own bathroom and shelter from the rain.

We brought it home last Saturday and I had big plans to get it all cleaned up on Sunday. But I couldn't. I just couldn't. I let the girls and our neighborhood kids play house in it and I just kind of stared at the thing. Like we were just storing it for someone. I'm sure once it's deep cleaned and filled with the items we've been hoarding for years just in case we ever got our own camper, then I will be overjoyed, but now it's almost like I'm too afraid to get excited.

I've been trying to find a campground close to our house where we can try it out before our first trip over the 4th of July. I told my husband that we need to give it a trial run before then, and he agreed. So if any of my local readers have a suggestion, I am open to it!

On another note I wanted to remind everyone to always read their bills closely. I didn't have to pay Sprint this month because they have been charging me a variety of California taxes for the last 14 months! I received a credit for all of it and currently have a negative balance. So watch for those hidden charges!

Welcome to life with a trailer!! It's awesome! Just wait till the first rain when you are dry!! YAY--as for campgrounds I have only been to Harrisville State park--that's kinda far, Hartwick Pines State park which is kinda far too. And a few places up near Sterling which is still far too.

Way to go! The American Dream! You could do a "trial" trip to Wampler's Lake. Pretty decent camp ground a lot of which is in the woods and the lake near by. AND, if there is ANY crapola you did not hoard for this occasion, let me know! I am "cleaning" my kitchen!

I used to make May Day baskets out of construction paper, steal the neighbors flowers to fill them and leanve them on THEIR door step. :o)
